Default Determine where a Xref Circular Reference is coming from

I am using a base drawing which relies on approx. 25 source drawings via xref-ing. The base is reffenced into several plan sheets. I picked up a circular reference and cannot determine where it is coming from...

Is there an easy way to find out where it's coming from ??? (In ver. 14)

    BIG THANKS !!

In the xref manager change to tree view - there may be 2 buttons near the top or you may have to double-click something - sorry I don't remember R14 that well now. Anyways, in tree view it should be easier to see what is where.

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been scribbling on a pad of paper all morning trying to accomplish this very thing, and the xrefs are so scrambled and folded back on themselves it is making my head want to explode.

Now if I could just select and drag them from 14 levels down, to a flat list of xrefs ...

    Thanks again!

In AC that's a near impossibility. It entails opening the 13th drawing, changing the xref from attached to overlayed, save & close. Open 12th drawing, change attach to overlay, insert xref of 14th dwg as overlay. Open 11th, change A to O, insert 13th & 14th as Ovrl ..... permutate through all of them. And then you also need to redo any layer settings for the xrefs, since they're effectively detatched and then inserted from scratch.

To avoid any possibility of circular reference (or at least 99%), use Overlay always. But that (as described above) makes for more work

Adrefman.exe inside the Autocad Folder in Program Files is also useful and it is complex you can edit xref pathing. Layer Manager can also shown the xref's parent.
