Default Nested detail component not showing when joined w/ other family.

I'm not sure whats going on here or if it is a known issue. This is in R9.0 and I haven't tried it in 9.1.

I have a nested detail family (rebar) in a foundation family and its is set to show when the family is cut. All works until I join the family with a floor. See the attached image.

I have not played with this too much, but any thoughts?

Haven't come across this before (although I don't use nested details in families that much), so it might be an issue. I'd talk to support about it. In the meantime I guess you could use the linework tool to get rid of the line shown in the unjoined example instead.

Doesn't sound like expected behaviour. This one might serve well if sent to Autodesk Support.

Ed: Could you post the family, we might be able to see if it isn't working here too.

Very unusual. Even if you Ungroup the footing from the slab, the rebar still remains invisible.

If I had to guess without looking at the file I'd try looking at the order in which the Joining is applied. It might be that if you join the Floor first you get the results you have here but if you join it the other way it might work out the way you intend. I've seen similar things in other areas and think it's likely worth a shot.

Order does not affect what is happening. That was my first guess. It seems that the fill pattern almost infects the family in some way and covers the detail components once it is joined as Chad had stated.
