Default Controling the Lineweight of Reveal Line work

I am using reveals in a concrete wall to cut the wall into tilt up panels and this is working well. The reveal profile is exactly what is needed in plan. In elevation, the reveals look good except that the line weight of the reveal linework is too heavy. Is it possible to control the line weight and style of the lines in elevation and/or hide selected lines produced by the reveal profile in elevation?

You can use the linework tools to modify the line used by the reveal.

    Thank you for your suggestion.

I have tried to affect the line work in the reveal family and I do not see any place to set the line work type or weight.

When I pick a reveal in elevation (or plan) and select properties I do not see and place to set the line work type or weight.

Am I missing something or is there another way to get to the line work in a reveal?

Problem is that when you use a reveal on the wall, the wall is cut. Revit displays this cut as a wall edge projection. Typically reveals are very small, but a wall projection line weight is a thicker line. Put a thick line on each side of a 1/2" reveal, and it gets really thick-looking in 1/8" scale or even 1/4" sclae elevations. You can use the linework tool to correct this, but you must click on every line of every reveal, and sometimes each line takes a couple of clicks to pick the wall edge and the reveal edge. There is no Object Style that will allow a setting for reveals, but there needs to be.

    Scott:

    I still do not understand.

When I pick the reveal and can cycle through the various line elements of the reveal and pick any one of them. Having done that I still see no place in the properties of the chosen reveal element where I can change the line weight.

its done using the linework tool...look intot he toolbars, and find the fountain-pen-looking icon. Change the "pen weight" or linetype in the type selector pulldown and start picking lines in the view.

This isn't a "properties" driven function, its view by view, reveal by reveal. a time consuming process for a large model with many reveals and many views.

Sometimes I wonder about myself. I simply did not properly read you instructions. Though tedious the desired look is achieved.

    Thanks

On the one hand, I think the fact that I can't control the lineweight of the reveal globally is a bug, but on the other hand, when a reveal is that small, it makes sense most of the time to show it as a line, either a model line or a split face. Now what would be great is a reveal that was a line at Course and Medium detail, and an actual reveal in Fine detail. Maybe that is actually sexy enough to get added to a new release?

    Gordon:

Your suggestion to use the detail level control for reveals (and sweeps also) would have worked in my case. This would be much like the manner in which structural beam visibility is controlled.

This should be considered for later released of the product.

Agree to this completely if there is one for wall sweep why not wall reveal.
