    Default Temp Dimension Ref Options

It would save a huge amount of time if you could select a button on the options bar to
let you choose the walls, planes, objects which are referenced when drawing new
    elements.

    Currently it seems rather random.

    Thanks

A useful tip I picked up recently was to click on the blue dot of the temp dimen and move it to another plane - giving the reference that I wanted. Makes life easier when you can re/check-dimensions on the fly.

True, and that works pretty well, but it would be nice to have a project options box or something to tell it to default temp dimensions to door hinges or window jambs instead of centerlines... any thoughts?

Under the Settings menu, choose Temporary Dimensions. In the dialog, pick the Openings checkbox under Doors and Windows. I think that does what you want. If I recall correctly it has been there since version 1.0.
