Chain Action-Stretch with Array

Okay, this is driving me crazy.
I have a lube center with 10' bay doors and 4' columns between the doors. I am trying to stretch the block in 14' increment and have the column and door array. That way I can easily go from a 4 bay, to a 5 bay, to a 6 bay, etc. Problem is, it's stretching fine, but the column and door won't array. I've looked at it every way possible, and it looks to be correct in the block setup. Any ideas?

with arraying, there shouldn't be any 'chaining' required. is it possible that you have a plethora of parameters present?

Not with a basic array command, but I need to stretch the building, then have the column and door array at the same time. There was a white paper on it that I found on this thread, and they did it with a metal plate with a hole in the center. When they stretched the plate, the hole arrayed automatically. I tried to do mine the same way, but I can't get it to work.

I could just have 2 grips, one to stretch, the other to array, but one is so much better!!

The issue is that you teh entire array parameter inside the stretch crossing window. One end point needs to be outside the crossing window, otherwise you are just moveing the array parameter.

just as i suspected, you had parameter plethoritis....

btw, i had to re-do the stretch cuz it was grabbing the 14' grip funny.... ~shrug~

ahhhhhh okay. I could swore the tutorial said to pick the entire array in the window. ~shrug~

So, you did an array paramter, with an array action, then only a stretch action (without a stretch parameter) and included on one grip of the array parameter in it?

Is there any way to stretch negative? In other words, the base block you have is a 4 bay, and the column width is 4'. How would I make it a 3 bay? I can't do what we just did and start with a 3 bay, because the column width by the stairs is 4.5', so if I arrayed that, all the columns would be 6" too long. Any suggestions?

in my class i stated that you can have as many 'actions' as you can cram onto a parameter as needed. you don't need separate parameters and actions doing the same thing....

i'd use a vis state. no parameters shown for the 3 bay, but the 4 bay + option has all the toys available. would that work?
