Post How do I change/edit railing profiles?

I found a previous thread on this issue and it didn't help me all the way.

I used an existing profile family and re-saved it as my new profile, changing the sizes in the 'Family Types' box. I hope that's all it takes...

I've highlighted the railing I want to change, hit Edit/New, hit Edit on the railing structure dialog box, hit the drop-down box to select the new profile I've loaded in but it's not there. The family category is also set to Railing, and I've tried changing it to <Generic> and that also doesn't work.

The previous thread mentions a 'family browser' and I don't know where that is - any help on that please?

I now believe that I've placed the new profile in the wrong folder because the profiles that I see in the drop-down box of the railing edit shows other profiles than the ones shown in the folder where I placed the new profile. Right now it's in Imperial Library/Profiles/Stairs. Is there another place where the profiles for railings are located?

    Thanks,
    Axel

You need to load the new profile into your project. go to file -load from library, browse to where you saved the profile and select it. then it will be a choice for you to use. Or if you have the profile family open and your project open there is a choice on the tool bar to load into project.

He has it loaded. It just isn't showing up as a choice in the railing structure pull-down. I'm having a similar problem...

Please be careful of the double post.

That said, was the profile drawn on a Profile-Railing template? If not, you may not be able to use it in a railing.
