    Question Mullion-less Glazing

Has anybody created a window/door style with mullion-less glazing (just perimeter framing) with a glass door? Just to make things more interesting, I need to make the glass go around a chamfered corner and end with an all glass door.

Can you post an example pic of it (sketch or something)? I have an idea of what you want to do, but I am a little sketchy on the finer points. I might try and build it later if you can post an example.

Oh what the hay. Here's something I whipped up real quick like. Check it out and we will go from here if this is not what you hoped for.

    Hi Steve-
Thanks for taking this on. You're almost there. Reverse the door location. Make the window have a sill at 36". Head at 10'. Turn the window around a chamfered corner. See the attached plan line drawing. The photo, while it shows a pair of doors, shows what I headed for.
    Thanks again for your help!

    Well, that was fun.

After screwing around with those DWA's for 2 hours I realized that there is a better way to go about this condition. I left them in the file and they look decent, but are PITB to work with in anything but a 3D view and DWA are a PITB to work with in 3D views.

My alternate approach was to just use wall styles - no DWA. I built a wall style that has top and bottom frames like the one in the pic and a door with a special frame. The rails on the door are 0.01" wide so they will display a small sliver in the model but hardly noticable. This is the only way to have a door with no side rails and have it remain dynamic. Otherwise you have to add custom blocks and and they do not update dynamically.

For the display of certain items, I recommend you play around with the settings on a copied file so you can see what drives what. The changes I made are really to extensive to put into one post. It's the type of stuff you learn from years of use and becomes instinct in a way...

    Cheers

AHA! I think I can work it from here. Thanks for the guidance. I think that this would be a good one to share.

Glad to know I got you going in the right direction. If you are able, can you post the finished example?

i downloaded the files you guys were using and rendered them in autocad 2008 but they look blue and not like real glass. could anyone advise how to make the 'glass' look more realistic?

Here you go. I started a new drawing, inserted a door from the tool palette that had glass in it, then copy clipped the walls into that drawing. The material for the "blue" glass was the same name, so it updated it.

How would you make a double door, i modified the door style to double but the door does not look right. I think it has to do with the custom profile. I thought the profile would be applied to each leaf of the door.
