    Default 'PAST ITS END'

any idea what the error message....

'an attempt was made to access 'ridgetop' past its end'

    means?

ridgetop is the name of the project. a colleague got this error message when trying to open his project. is there any way to recover the file or do we have to go to the last backup? did we do something to cause the error?

When opening check the Audit option and see if it fixes it

it means your file is stuffed.
we had this happening at least once a day for the last month (large project, lots of people working in it - we think the problem was "saving to central"/network related but we couldn't pin it down to a particular computer/action that was causing it - it usally happened after we had 6 or 7 people accessing the central file, 3-4 hours after the start of the day or making new local files)
recovering from the backups folder usually worked. if that didn't you got the most recent local file and made that the central. sometimes your local files worked. sometimes they didn't.

Someone in my office the same message 2 minutes ago.
    Very small file 5.75 MB
A title block was placed into the file. the file was saved and closed.
An attempt was made to access the file then the error came up.
The title block was an acad import

this is practically a brand new file (4.4 megs) as well. it is not a central file since we have only one person working on the project.

this message is happening with some regularity now and seems to be connected to the 'save as'. it is not a central file so that doesn't seem the cause in this situation. i still would like to know what the hell 'past its end' means.
