Railing Corners

I have a railing pretty much finished up, the issue that I'm having is getting corner posts to turn the corner.


The upper railing is a continuous railing. . . .the way it really should be. The problem here is that since this technically would use 2 corner posts, I am missing one as it turns the corner. I thought of creating a corner post family that would draw 2 posts at once, but this would create 2 issues.

1. It would mess up the spacing on the balusters after turning the corner.

2. It would only allow me to turn the railing 1 directions.



The lower railing is 2 separate railings. I showed this to be able to get the correct corner post location, but then you see the mess it creates.



So neither of these solutions works. Any thoughts. . . . .

After this, I still need to add glass, but I was leaving that until I got the metal work finished.

You'll need two railing objects. Use one railing that has only the horizontals, sketch will contain only two lines. Use another railing object that has only the verticals, sketch will contain lines that are "in line" but place an endpoint at each baluster location (or each baluster location that does not adhere to the rule based spacing). At each meeting of the endpoints, Revit will place a corner post, even if it does not actually turn a corner. You can use this feature to precisely control where you want the balusters.

Might even be easier to construct these railings with curtain walls.

I like to try and use real objects if possible. If nothing else for scheduling issues, or user issues down the road.

Anyway, here is the final product.

(1) contiuous railing for the horizontal rails

then at each face

(1) Railing for the baluster
(1) 2 pick family for the glass

Grouped, and then coppied where applicable.

Turned out ok I think. . . .a little of a pain to modify, but once you get the system down it goes ok.
