Default Generate a report from Topologies

I have a polygon topology of Customer Serving Areas. I also have Pedestals (telephone boxes) with DB records. I want to produce a report that shows the Pedestal number with the polygon Topology ID for all of the polygons at once. I am having a bunch of trouble making it work. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

Are the pedestals blocks, points, or what? Are they completely inside each parcel? I take it the polygon topology is of polygons that make up parcels or one polygon.

The peds are blocks with links to my SQL db. they all reside inside a polygon. there are approx. 11000 peds across 120 polygons covering about 800 sq. mi.

Are you on subcription? There may be something in the next release that might help you do this.

    Next week hun?

Ok I haven't tried this to see if it works but it might. Attach you dwg to a blank dwg, query in the Service Area polygon, then use a location query to query the pedestals using the polygon(inside) and the polygon topology, in the report options select the topology ID and the pedestal DB fields. You will need to do this for each Service Area Polygon. Make a new txt file for each. Once you get the report(s) written combine them into one by pasting them into the first one then import them into excell and you should be able to see what group of data goes with each polygon, then just add the value for the each row using the excell edit tools. A fill UP/Down should work if you know excell.

Yeah, i do something similar to that in access. i have 140+ polygons so it is not time friendly at all. Also i have several other reports of that scale using the polygons i need to produce. I need to make it work automatically.

I mean, ESRI can do it! but i am trying to stay true to model space...

The way to do what you want is to create an overlay topology that identifies each polygon that the pedestal is in.

Create a point topology of the pedestals to tag each pedestal uniquely.
Then create the overlay topology - pedestals on polygons. You should end up with another point topology that has the original pedestal topology ID and the Polygon ID in it's topology data.

Then query the polygon and pedestal information out to reports and link the tables together using the ID's.

I know this is a bit brief. IF you need deeper explanation, let me know.
