Worksharing Across a WAN

We are exploring the possibility of worksharing a project across our WAN, two different offices in two states. The internet access for these two offices is currently DSL. Plans down the road are to upgrade to fiber optical, but that won't happen right away.

My question is, does it make sense to workshare a project across a WAN like this? I don't want to enable worksharing and then discover that it is too problematic. Would we be better off trying to figure out a way to break up the project into pieces and bring those pieces together somehow?

How are other firms dealing with this situation?

I would not work this way without a Steelhead appliance from Riverbed... I don't know how it works but it does and it works well.

Be careful about this blanket statement (unless you work for Riverbed)...
