    Default Show 3D UCS Icon

    Hi,

It was requested by a client that our AutoCAD 2005 drawings are saved as "3D" files.

The drawings we created are standard 2D sheets using Paperspace environment.

Does anyone know if there is a setting within AutoCAD that can make our sheets compliant?

Client stated something about the tray UCS Icon would show a "Z" symbol within the UCSIcon, currently it just shows X and Y, with the "Z" going into screen depth....

    Thanks!

What kind of drawing work are you doing? Machine parts? Architectural? Engineering?

Is your drawing a purely 2d drawing, or are there any z-coords in play?

Drawing files are almost always three-dimensional by their very nature. This statement from your client may just be some fancy phraseology.

Just for edification, check the UCSICON command in the ACAD help index.

To get your UCS to show a "Z", then you need to use the SHADEMODE command to switch to the 3D setting. This however may display your drawings in ways that you did not intend. Such as hidden lines showing up continuous.

But, like Doug stated above me, you can use the UCSICON command, and type "P" for properties, and change the look of the icon there.

Thumbs up Re: Show 3D UCS Icon

Maybe they're just referring to a 3-D view, which shows the usc with all 3 directions?
Go to the "View" pull down, go to "3D views" and select one of the bottom "Isometric" views.

This gives you an isometric view of your work regardless if you have 3d stuff.
