Question Array an Object, then Array all those Objects another way

I looked in search for a thread with this question but couldn't find one... mostly because I didin't know what to search for other than multiple array. Here's the question. I'd like to array a certain object one way and then array that entire SET of arrayed objects another way. When I try to pick the object again for the second array set, it tells me that it already belongs to an array event. Is there a way around this? Am I missing something simple here or does it just not do this? Oddly enough, when you attach an array action to a parameter, the little array icon shows exactly what I want to do (2 rows and 2 columns) but the program won't allow it. Suggestions, thoughts?

no way around it. arrays only allow objects to be a part of one of a like-minded action ..... erm .. you can only have an object associated with one array. I think this also applies to flips but i'm not 100% sure on that.

a great example of this 'one item-one array' rule is this STAIR that rico created after i gave him the idea with a straight run version... he had to tweak the heck out of it of course...
Sometimes, i get lost in my own thoughts and need to ask directions to find my way back.

well then i stand corrected ... i was positive that this wasn't completely unique to arrays though ....

I have found a couple of work arounds as well. Can you post your drawing? I have attached an example of an array, I believe you are describing.

Um, wouldnt a simple solution be just copy the object, so their was one on top of another? top one went one way the other went with all the other objects going the other way? Or am i missing something?

That is true, why bother with a dynamic block if you can just multiple copy anyway.

The XY parameter should allow this to work. When assigned off that particular parameter, it will ask for two offset distances. The XY parameter could always be chained to two linear parameters if those better suit the situation.
