Beam/Beam Intersections of Varying Depths

I'm basically the guy in my office who's using Revit for the first time and trying to convince my bosses that this is the way to go. However, little concrete oddities are making it very difficult for me to win over my bosses (read: old-timers who fear new technology).

Take this scenario: one larger concrete beam supports a smaller concrete beam. Since the beams are of varying depths, there should be a dashed line at their intersection plane to indicate the hidden line beyond. Is there a way to get Revit to display this particular hidden line?

Perhaps Revit is operating under the drafting practice of hidden lines twice removed (the bottom beam edge being hidden by the slab and itself) aren't shown for clarity. That being said I agree there a several cases in structural drafting where this practice is ignored for good reason and or preference.


One not so elegant but somewhat effective cheat to quickly accomplish this would be to use the Unjoin Geometry tool and select the shallower member. This eliminates the automatic cleanup that occurs when the member is first placed and holds up fairly well. If during the course of design the members become the same depth simply use the Join Geometry command to clean them up again. Not the greatest solution but beats adding a detail line.
