in my experience, saving a 2007 file as 2004 isnt too bad. objects keep their associativity, walls are still walls (ADT), xref's keep their paths. if you use the export function, everything is exploded (walls & AEC objects), and xref's are bound to the drawing as a block.
I think that any dynamic blocks in the drawing will lose the Dynamic properties. They're "stuck" in whatever settings you have when you save the drawing.Originally Posted by kirkevitz
If you reopen the drawing in 2007, the blocks won't work as dynamic blocks again, the change is permanent.
that's only if you re-open and save in a version that's older than 2006 (which still reads the 2004 format) at least, that's what i've experienced.Originally Posted by Augi Doggie
in our office, (at this date), we have our file type set to 2004 in our Options dialog box so we don't have to worry about the 'save as' method, some peeps are still using 2006 even tho i don't think they should, but we're having hardware issues "or something"
Sometimes, i get lost in my own thoughts and need to ask directions to find my way back.

I have my files saved down to 2000lt format.
Only issue I found is that it will not work with the wblock command.
Anything that I wblock, I always have to reopen and resave the file so that
it is "actually" in 2000lt format.
I haven't noticed any data loss of any kind.
The only one I know of the the loss of copy/paste if you go back as far as 2000 format fixed by this downloaded here... We have to save to 2004 on all drawings and haven't had any problems that can be definitely attributed to saving back.
We've discovered one huge problem - so long as it's a "pure" ACAD 2007 file, it will save down with no problems past the ones discussed here. However, if any other 2007 software has opened it and saved it (i.e. ADT, ABS, Civil 3D) then the files will be heck to deal with and won't open.
I drink coffee for your protection.
