    Default Steel Shapes Catalog?

Ok, I have no idea what exactly this would fall under, so I'm posting it here. It'll probably be moved to the correct area, and that's fine.

Anyway, I'm trying to track down a catalog that lists standard structural steel shapes and all of the sizes that are available. I used to have one years ago and I can't remember what I did with it. If someone knows where I can get my hands on one, I'd surely be grateful.

Structural steel shapes generally follow a standard depending on geographic location, for example in the UK we have a BS to follow, so I would guess there is a similar one in the US (might be AISC), is it the US you are after?

EDIT: Also in ADT, in the detail componant manager you will have most of them in drawn CAD ootb. If that helps at all.

See if you can find the AISC Steel Construction Manual. The silver book was one that I used in college and still have on my shelf.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to ADT anymore. Thanks for the reminder though...

That's what I'm looking for, but that's also a pretty steep price. Thanks for the link though. I'll have to see if the boss will pick up the tab for it.

Why not have the boss spring for an update to ADT. There's still a program out called AutoCad for Architects where you can upgrade from AutoCad to ADT for only $250.00.

I think I still have a lisp routine that will draw your steel shapes for you. Has all the sizes and you can even add your own. If I remember correctly, it even does them in 3D.

Let me know if that helps.

BTW, even though I'm a reseller, in no way am I trying to solicit your business in this forum, I'm just letting you know what's out there like I would for anyone else.
Give a man AutoCad, and he'll draw you a floor plan.
Give a man Revit and he'll build you a house.
Give Cadmama a couple of drinks and she'll have everyone singing Rockytop!

Here's the thing, I'm not doing architectural work anymore. I need the structural shapes for other projects. ADT would, honestly, be a waste of money here.

Now here's the neat thing. I just found the Frame Generator in Inventor. All I have to do now is figure out how to use it...

Look for something called Steel Shapes.lsp or somehting like that. It will generate all steel shapes per AISC standards.

Also, please note I am moving this to the CAD Management-CAD Standards forum.
