Default AutoCAD running slow on HP intel core 2 duo E6600

    Hi all,
Just had an upgrade to an HP intel core 2 duo E6600 2.4GHz machine & my AutoCAD is running really poorly - undo is very slow, plot takes about 17 seconds before the dialog box appears, and clicking inside a viewport tends to freeze up for at least 10 seconds. 2 other colleagues have the same computer upgrade & problems. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Another colleague who has inherited my old machine is very happy with his 'new' machine!

What graphics card do you have installed and do you have the latest drivers installed.

Also ensure all the latest service packs are installed for Acad and windows (you are running XP I assume and not VISTA? ).

I suspect that something in your system may be pegging your processor. I recommend that you download Process Explorer and run it in conjunction with AutoCAD to see if this is the case and what program is the culprit. You can set it to always be on the top.

Not entirely sure what's wrong, but I have a similar system and it works very well.

Definitely sounds like something with the software configuration. Network issues often cause problems like this. Did you revamp your network at the same time?

Other things to check would be to turn all virus software completely off and make sure that doesn't fix the problem. You can also try running a registry cleaner, to make sure you have no broken paths in there that might be causing Windows to wait for timeouts. Have you noticed any weird performance issues in anything else?

I'm assuming these are brand-new machines? Who built them?

I recently switched to a similar computer and I am experiencing similar problems. I suspect it is the network causing the problem but I have not been able to find a fix.
