Default Copy Object Properties Before Creating a Similar Object

Summary: Acquire the properties of an object and then create a similar object based on those properties

Description: I wish it would be possible to use the middle mouse button to double click on an object and temporary acquire all of its properties, that is:

    - object type (line, pline, circle,...)
    - layer
    - color
    - line type
    - line thickens
    - ???

And then be able to draw to draw an object with the same properties. It is similar to the "match properties" tool, but you would use it before you would start to draw an object and it would also include the object type. So to say if you have an red dotted circle on the layer X, you would simple double click on it and you could draw a new circle with the same properties. It would make most sense to have it on something simple like the middle double mouse click so the command could be activated really quickly. It can be used for 2D and 3D object.

I know and am used to this command from allplan, so if someone knows it i am sure you will know about it.

How Used: From my experience it is a very simple command that can can be a great time saver. I would guess that this would be beneficial to everyone. Even long time users that are used to their work habits would probably catch up using this quickly.

i would like to make a small correction to the above suggestion. the suggested middle mouse button double click for this is not good since this is already used for "zoom extents". the correct suggestion would be to have it on right mouse button double click.

    For information only -
There was a routine called "quikpik.lsp" or "quickpick.lsp" published by AutoDesk Australia around the days of R11/R12 that did exactly that.
This is not the same as the application "quikpik" from manusoft.

It is/was also a tool in ToolPac, called Draw By Example; I used it often.

but i think it is not possible to have the lsp work from the right mouse double click right? not having this command in a simple and fast to use place, like the right mouse double click on the "sample" object that you would like to acquire from, really kills its usage.

Once you start a lisp routine a single left-click on a object will do.
It could be started by a single click on a button.
Which button and how many clicks isn't fundamental to the (your) original wish. Or is it?

No, it is not. But I did write one or two small and simple lsp things so I think I know the basic idea of it. And in the end I guess I would still stay with my wish since I believe it would be useful (*) and still more simple to use then lsp.

*It could be used not just for 2D but also 3D and probably not only in AutoCAD but also other products like Revit (I guess, since don't know Revit, but I am on the ATP course this month )
