How can i disable worksharing in a file so that i can save it as a template?
The factory might be able to help you. Not sure though. They usually have the "magic" button to do almost anything...
are you trying to create a template with existing model elements too?
you could probably just create a new template and transfer project standards from your existing file.
yes, i have a file that is our template which is fully set up but cannot be saved as an *.rte file because it has worksets.
i made a new file and did a project transfer but can't seem to do a quick transfer of all the legends and it doesn't bring in all the views. in addition i have to clean-up and restandardize the project properties for the new file and wish i could just remove the worksets of the original file and be able to save it as a template. perhaps that's just not going to be possible
Has this been made into a wishlist item?
This really becomes a major issue for me, since I am teaching a class in Revit and need to be able to "pre-build" each exercise, then thin down the results into a template for each student to use to begin the assignment. Once I move into teaching worksets, this is really a problem!
Any factory workers listening in here? Is it worth submitting a support request for a feature like this which is not available, and for which I need a workaround?
I understand this is an old thread, but I didn't find newer.
I've found a workaround, that works for me.
1st, make note that EVERYTHING I do in Revit uses worksharing, so I always have to enable it for every new project.
I've simply taken my workshared project(detached from central), cleared out the project-specific information so I have what I want as the template, deleted all worksets except "General", saved it as a .rvt file, renamed it to .rte and voila, set it as my default template. Now everytime I open a new file, it's already got worksharing enabled, bonus!
If there is a way to disable worksharing, ignore this as I could not find it.
once worksharing is enabled i dont believe it can be turned off
Thanks for the idea. I still would like a way to make a workset-free template to use when teaching the basics, prior to introducing worksets. I guess I can always resort to transferring project standards (as chris mentioned above), and copying certain elements from another file.
The only way to disable worksharing is to send the file to Autodesk. I did this, took about a week or 2 when all was said and done. good luck!
