    Default Piranesi

While our firm is trying to move into the photorealistic rendering arena, we still get requests for watercolor and marker style renderings. Has anyone here had success with Revit and Piranesi?

Reading previous posts it seems like the best result so far is Revit to SketchUp then to Piranesi

    Thanks for any input.

You can also go from Revit to DWG or DXF ( I forget which) and then into Vedute, then to Piranesi. Revit to DWG to Sketchup will probably work also. I think it will be easier to set up your point of view in Sketchup than in Vedute.

I am trying to export a "current View", which is a perspective, from Revit via dxf into Vedute for eventual use in Piranesi. I'm using Piranesi/Vedute 4.1 and when the dxf is opened in Vedute I seem to have no means to find or view the perspective. It opens as the entire model. I know the perspective is in the dxf file as I can access it through the DXF Viewer but don't have that option in Vedute, or, if I do, am missing something? That is highly possible.

I know I can go through Sketchup but I want an alternative and perhaps a more efficient work flow. A Revit-Piranesi plug-in would be nice especially when you want a sketchy rendering style more advanced than Sketchup. I have looked at Impressions and Sketch Pro from Autodesk. Neither matches with Piranesi. Help appreciated.

I think that since the perspective information is essential to how Piranesi calculates things, you either have to set up the perspective in Vedute or in another program that will export an epix file. Unfortunately there is no plug-in for Revit so you cannot set up the perspective there.

    Joef,

Thanks for the reply. I know I can get things done via the Sketchup route but I am baffled as to how to extract a perspective (that is, an interior camera view) once I get it into Vedute. Is that possible? If it is I will do more research. I just couldn't find a way. Maybe the newest version of Piranesi addresses this. I have a request into Informatix (Piranesi) concerning this issue. If I find out anything I will post it here. Thanks.

I have never tried an interior perspective view, but I have seen Piranesi interiors so it must be possible. I too am curious how to do this in Vedute, as it seems impossible to relocate the camera to the interior of the building.

    Joef,

I am going to give Vedute a thourough scouring today, as I am starting I see that it may have more capabilities than I first t hought. Will report results if I have any hair left.

I heard Revit R1 had EPIX export. Hmm, RA2008>DWG>R1>Piranesi

Once you get into Vedute you have to navigate the panorama views. I have been experimenting with them today and find them very difficult. Nothing like a camera in Revit then fine tuning it. The tool here seems clumsy and non intuitive. Hope there has been some improvement in version 5.0.
