Multiple Lines

Is there a way to draw multiple lines in 2D at the same time....example: closet rod & shelf.

Nothing like the mline command in AutoCAD. Depending on what you are creating a repeating detail may work. Give us a clue to the use?

thanks for the reply. I want to create a rod and shelf in closets, does not need to be 3D.

You can either create a family that has no 3d objects, just symbolic lines and uses instance parameter for width so you can "stretch" it or you could make a 2D detail component that you use (as Aaron suggests) in a repeating detail.

We need some family templates for these types of objects, similar to the structural beam where you place it from point "a" to point "b"

I've tried making other objects of this type using the structural beam template, & then switching the family category of the family once complete, but can't seem to get that to work.

You can try something like I have attached.

It is a simple 2D family with the width as an instance parameter.

You can type in the width, or you can use the "align" tool and align and lock each end to a wall and the object will stretch with the model even though it is nothing more than a couple of 2D lines in a family.

Much better than an mline type command in my opinion,

I Agree that we need something line a "Drafting" Family. Probably already a wishlist item though.

The only work around would be to create a new object style under the structural family - Say 2d Line One, 2D line two etc. and control its visibility with View Properties. It would still be a Structural Member though.
