Rendered pipe is coming out segmented...

My comapany gave me a 30 day trial version of 3dviz07 and i am running threw the program pretty good picking up on all the options it does. the last version i worked on was 98

The only problem is i do alot of pipe design, and when i render a picture instead of a circle, the pipe renders in segments like an octagon.


Now i am drawing everything in autocad 2008 and importing the drawing into viz. so if anyone knows anything about a setting that i am missing i would appreciate any help

Look up in the help file "File link manager". This is a little utility that allows you to have a dynamic link between Autocad and VIZ...well it does in MAX 9....pretty sure its in VIZ too. Anyway, if i were doing piping i would import just the splines from Autocad and then add a Sweep modifer to the splines or you could just make the splines renderable in VIZ. Both of these techniques will allow you to choose the amount of segments thus making the pipe less octagonal.
