The osnap toggle button does not seem to work. I have tried F3 as well. With osnap turned off, the snaps set in the dialogue box still display and operate as normal.

What happens if you type "non" (withouot quotes) at a "select objects" prompt?
Have you just closed and restarted your computer? Or is this a recurring error? Also is it specific to a single drawing?
Does the OSnap button appear to work (ie pop in and out), but the snaps are still apparently running? If so, take a look at the OTRACK button, that can make it look like the Snaps are still on.

thanks to all for the suggestions. the problem disappeared when the system was rebooted and has not occured since.
