Question Can raster design convert an image to vector?

I'm using the ANSI std’s to create a P&ID library. But it would be nice if I could just convert the PDF I have to vector and clean it up. I can convert the PDF to and image no problem but I can't seem to convert the image to vector due to my lack of skill and knowledge.
So, I need to know can raster design convert an image to vector?
    Thanks,
    Eraska

yes, but it's not automagic. you'll have to work with it and do a lot of hand cleanup. Check the archived ATP courses for more details on how to work with RD

Is your PDF already a raster, or does it contain vector data? If the latter, have you considered trying to import the vector data directly into AutoCAD?

Red face Re: Can raster design convert an image to vector?

Hi, I have a problem when I insert a raster image on a particular drawing. The raster image will insert, but once it is inserted, I cannot move it, resize it, or anything. The program
does not even recognize he image, but it is there because I can see it!

This is a bizarre issue... I can manipulate this same raster on all my other drawings, but 1. I inherited the 1 drawings form another person. There must be some parameter setup in the drawing file that is different for the others. any thoughts?

The layer is not Is it on a locked... I checked - I inserted it into layer 0.

    Imageframe is set to "0"

I tried typing in rasterimage if the set it to 1, but it is an unknown command "RASTERIMAGE".

    Can you provide any help?

    Thanks,
    /a.

How are you inserting it in the drawing, with the ._IMAGE command, or by pasting? If the latter, then what type of entity is the image, an IMAGE or an OLE object?

If you suspect it's an OLE object, see: http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS64541

Question Re: Can raster design convert an image to vector?

I go to insert and then insert raster image. It inserts, but then is not recognized.

    Thanks,
    /a.

I have found turning text frames on allows you to grab the image also.

I usually set Imageframe to 2. It allows selection without printing the frame.
