Default Nested window family not flexing (in Revit family editor hell at mo)

Nested window family attached is not flexing properly.
Second mullion won't follow the reference plane.

Other 4 nested objects flex fine - why?
Our many other families comprised of the same objects are flexing OK.

Nested objects only have 2 reference planes set as active - rest are disabled.

I would greatly appreciate some help, and some rules for being able to check and control association when this occurs.

Have you tried just deleting the mullion that is giving you trouble and copying the one that isn't giving you trouble.

Sometimes a nested family is mirrored or placed in such a way that its behavior becomes erratic.

Yes, tried deleting, and copying mullion that works.
    Tried replacing reference plane.
Checked that only one reference plan in each axis (x,y) is turned on in child families (so that other planes aren't trying to invent associations that aren't there)

Have tried dimensioning about centre(left/right) as this plane doesn't move when it flexes, and have tried dimensioning about other face of window.

For all Revit is a wonderful piece of software, there are too many ways of doing things that don't work every now and again.
I would personally like to be able to turn off automatic association in the family editor, so that every link between elements must be set manually - that way you can be sure that you are in full control.

    Hi,
I had a quick run at the family. Seems to work ok.
Here's what i did: I deleted the errant mullion. Then i copied the working one over. I aligned and locked the new instance to the ref plane. Then i flexed it. Then i joined it to the frame and flexed again.
I'm attaching it - i've renamed it so it wont mess up any of your existing ones.
    Hope it works for you.
    aloha,
    jamie
p.s. sorry, i dont have any technical explanations to offer up...

    Thanks Jamie

Opening up your file I noticed that the depth of the mullion from the face of the wall was not flexing properly. The mullion would follow the reference plane across the face of the wall OK when it was not required to flex in depth. If I locked it to the depth reference plane it would fail immediately.

Going back to the nested family, I found that the reference plane for the mullion was not the correct one to be referencing - have changed to inside face of stop.

Have attached working window if anyone wants to play. Sash / frame types can be swapped in / out interactively as family types.

Thanks for your help - regards Crispin
