Are we ever going to be able to manipulate text using formulas like CONCATENATE ?
Reviving this old question. In my searching I have seen rumors that this functionality now exists, but nothing beyond that. I'm not interested in a concatenated label. I want a parameter that combines as text the values of other parameters. Possible?
That function is still (2013) not possible in the family types window. However, ... Since Excel can concatenate values from different columns into a single value, and Excel can be used to create a type catalog for a Revit family, therefore it is possible to concatenate values from parameters for Revit families through type catalogs, using Excel for the concatenation.
Thanks Alfredo. I suppose that will work for now. My current application is to drive what is listed as the width in a door schedule. For example, a 6' wide double door could be listed as PR 3'-0". However, I foresee a high probability that users will create new types, and it might be easier as a trained workflow to show them where the parameter is in the family as opposed to changing and loading from a type catalog. Still good to know for other applications though. Until the factory deems us worthy of this capability...
