Summary: An automatic title block feature included with AutoCAD

Description: I would like the Automatic Title Block in AutoCAD Mechanical to be included also in AutoCAD LT & Full version.

How Used: This feature will reduce much of the time inserting Title Block in terms of production in multi-discipline company.

Isn't this a function of templates? You can create layouts from a template. For example I have a Title.dwt that has a different layout for each of our different types of surveys, ALTA, LSP, TOPO etc. Included in each of those layouts is a checklist and links to any support files or forms associated with that type of job.

So normal workflow when creating a new drawing is New from template and I use a 'newdwg.dwt' which includes all our layers etc and then right click on a layout and select from template and pick my title.dwt which brings up a list of all the different title blocks to choose from.

FYI, from the help file of AutoCAD Mechanical

Drawing border and title block are used to specify the scale for a drawing and to complete a drawing. You can insert the drawing border at every stage of the design process.

Before plotting a drawing, you can insert a plotdate in the title block.

The drawing border and the title block are placed on AM_BOR (a special layer) that can be turned off with the AMLAYTIBLO (Title Block Layer On/Off) command, if you want to plot a concept print of your drawing or if you want to set only the Base Scale Factor for the drawing.

The drawing border is inserted through the Drawing Border and Title Block dialog box, in which the title block, the paper format, and the scale are specified. Specify the height and width of the drawing section to calculate the scale.

If a drawing contains objects when you insert a drawing border, they can be rescaled and moved manually or automatically to the appropriate position within the border.

Entries for the title block can be inserted to the text field with a part reference. You can also import information for the border or title block from an external file.

If a drawing border already exists, the Edit Drawing Border / Title Block dialog box is displayed for editing the existing or inserting a new drawing border with title block.

Drawing border and title block are always directed to the WCS (irrespective of the current UCS).

Drawing border and title block are two different blocks that can be adapted to your needs. AutoCAD Mechanical delivers a number of standard drawing borders and title blocks. The default drawing borders are stored in the folder acadm/gen/dwg/format. The default title blocks are stored in the folder acadm/gen/dwg/title.

Note: A revision line can be inserted within a title block.
