Exclamation Help! Number/name convention for sheets

I'm pretty new to sheet sets but I'm getting frustrated with the lack of answers in AutoCAD help.

When I create a sheet set, it automatically generates a number prefix eg.
    1 - A00 - TITLE
    2 - A01 - PLAN

I would like to see the following automatically generated:

    A00 - TITLE
    A01 - PLAN

How do I do this? I shouldn't have to rename each individual sheet in every set, every time.

When I open the Rename dialog box, the "File rename options" check boxes are greyed out >

If you added existing sheets to a SST I believe that you will have to use the Rename / Renumber to file them but if you create the new sheet from the manager you should not that that problem.
As for you boxes being grayed out its because you have that drawing open. Close it and use a blank drawing to then use the rename/renumber command

    Gidday
SSM likes a minimum of 1 drawing to be open in its set
Open any Drawing in the list and then you can rename/renumber

also (side thing that I like with SSM)
if you use your company titleblock and that titleblock has attributes in it, use cmd eattext as an easy way of building drawing lists and a drawing transmittal form. you can save them as autocad tables or even an external xl file.

In the "Create a Sheet Set Wizard" there is an option to prefix the file name to the Sheet Name. If you don't check that, the name should come in at whatever you have the Layout named.

Thanks for your help people, but perhaps I haven;t explained myself very well because the answer has not appeared.

I am setting up a sheet set from scratch, not adding drawings on by one. There are at least 15 drawings before I start each set, and at least one is open.

I want to stop the number prefix from coming in automatically, but there doesn't seem to be a check box for that. The only check box is for "Prefix sheet titles with file name".

If the box is not checked I get:
    1 - A00

If the box is checked I get:
    1 - A00 TITLE - A00

    But what I need is:
    A00 -TITLE!

Does anyone know the answer? I want to do this automatically, not by renaming 100 sheets. Do I need to set up a custom field or something?

In LDT they get automatically numbered. I don't know of a way to change the numbering scheme. Just dragging and dropping to get in the correct order and manually renumbering.

What version ACAD are you running? i've been working in ssm for over 2 years w/ vanilla cad (currently in 2007) and have not seen that auto prefixing you describe. also, you can't rename the file if you have it open. that's why it's greyed out in the options at the bottom of the dialog.
Sometimes, i get lost in my own thoughts and need to ask directions to find my way back.
