Question Publish does not close drawings

Since Tuesday or Wednesday of last week, many of the CAD users in our office have reported “strange” behavior in both ADT 2006 and vanilla AutoCAD 2006. The most annoying problem for me has been the publish function not behaving properly. When I publish, the program opens each drawing, and leaves it open. After publishing, I have to manually close all drawings. What a pain!

Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Is there any type of error message or any message at all on the command line of these drawings that are not being closed? I assume they are plotting correctly?

I am currently having the same problem. They are plotting correctly, but all of the drawings that I published remain open. I currently have Map 2008, but it did the same with AutoCAD 2007. Both of them worked fine for a while, but started doing this with no warning.

I had this issue and found that it was a compatibility issue with my office's anti-virus. I have turned off the options for "background" plotting / publishing in the options dialog which has helped some.

I also encountered this problem when I had too many programs open.

Just a couple of things to check.

I have been using the publish option for quite some time, with the background publishing option enabled. Yesterday I received an error message that prompted me to turn off background publishing. Once I did this I was able to publish again, I have turned background publishing on and off several times, only to verify it will not allow publishing with it turned on. It is not a huge issue, just a little surprising that one day you come in and something that you have gotten used to no longer works.

update: just tried it again and it works just fine with background publishing turned on.

    Howdy y'all,

I have found something that seems to work for this issue. I have tested this on four computers in our office that started to do the same thing, and it has fixed them all.

These are the steps that I used:
    1. Open a drawing
    2. Change the profile to the <<Unnamed Profile>>
    3. Publish four drawings into a multi-page DWF
    4. Change the profile back
    5. Publish again
Doing this has fixed not only this issue, but it has also fixed it when publishing in the background only prints one sheet instead of the entire list.

Anyway, something else to try for those who have not found a solution.

    Have a great day y'all!!!

Would that have anything to do with the "publishcollate" variable?
