    Lightbulb Wall Style Component Manager?

    Summary:
I would like to assign wall components display settings per display representation and then be able to resource the components to build wall styles.

    Description:
It would be a huge benefit to expand the wall component tab again, this time to include the ability to assign display settings as components are created. That way, when components are copied from one wall style to another, it would not be necessary to assign the display settings again. It could even be expanded into a separate Component Style category, much like endcaps are separate resource entities for building wall styles.

    How Used:
As CAD Manager, it would save a bunch of time in setting up wall styles for ACA roll-out. It would ensure that users consider all display settings when creating the occasional wall style as well.

    Feature Affinity:
    ACA Wall Styles

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you are after, but to me it would seem that applying style overrides for the object display of walls before duplicating the style would accomplish what you are after.

Material Definitions allow you to create a collection of display settings which can then be applied to a given type of wall component in every style that component is used. Not only does it assure that the settings are the same when creating new styles, but it also allows you to make changes in one place that will affect all uses, in that drawing file. For example, you could create a Material Definition for gypsum wallboard (assuming that you do not like the out-of-the-box one), assign your display settings, then use that to control the display of every gypsum wallboard component in every wall style.

Note also that you can use the Wall Style Component Browser to "steal" wall components from existing styles and bring them into another style. Read all about it in this blog article, if you are interested.

I'm with David on that one, set things by material, and assign as necessary. Update a materials display props and it updates across the board.
