Default Items beyond wall in elevation!

In the image on the left you see the Elevation tag and the extents (arrowed). On the right you see that the door on the left and the wall on the right, both beyond the wall nearest the elevation tag, are showing up. The elevation is Hidden Line view, no graphic override has been applied to the wall, the material of the wall is 0% transparent. And I don't think I could make the wall show hidden lines anyway, as I can't select the wall or door beyond.
Now, if I pull the elevation tag extents back till it doesn't encompass the door, the door drops out, but I need it to go where it is because I need to see the rear wall on the right.
    So, anyone have any thoughts?

Also, this seems to be a good argument for the ability to jog the extents of the elevation. I have run into this need with sections also. Anyone else find you need that?

In the stacked image, one is Shading, one is shading with edges. Neither shows what I think it should, and I think there is a hint to my problem there, but I am just not sure what it means.

    Thanks,
    Gordon
