Default New duct added to existing problem

I have a section of duct and a VAV that will be removed. Then on the install drawing I am going to reinstall the VAV on the other side of a slab to slab wall. When I add a section of new duct from the relocated VAV to the existing duct the New and Exist. duct become the same phase. How do you keep them separate New and Existing?

Try placing a Duct Union on the open end of your "existing" run of duct. Then connect your new run of duct to the Union. That worked in my quick test.
