    Exclamation Building and Construction Layers

I am currently in the process of overhauling my company's CAD Layering practices for buildings and other construction specific to Civil Engineering. I know that their is a national standard for AEC layering. I would like to find the standard without paying through the nose for it. Any Ideas?

Being that you've posted this under Building Systems, I'm going to assume you are currently using ABS. The Building Systems product in 2004 & 2005 automatically uses AIA layering. If you use the templates provided to start your own template, then you will have access to layer keys for Arch, Mech, Pipe, & Elect.

The beauty of this is that you don't have to start a drawing with layers that you may or may not use. As you add objects and devices as well as annotation, the layers are automatically created and added. There's no real reason anymore to even go into the layer manager. You no longer need to change the current layer before drawing.

If you need further help with this, just ask.

I see that you have Civil Engineering in your post,
a word of caution IF you are using Land Desktop
Layer Key Styles do not function in Land Desktop
so you efforts may be for nothing if you try to
    implement them.
