wow, thanks Nick. I'd say you stumbled upon some sort of "bug" because that could be disastrous, as you have probably already figured out! So the ini file in the project folder was named "Revit.ini"? I encourage you to file a SR about this. We can quickly solve any issues that could arise from this by adding a line to the script to delete any "Revit.ini" files (if that's the correct name) that are in the project folder, to be on the safe side.

The primary or normal .ini file is always located at C:\Program Files\Revit Architecture 2009\Program

The secondary file was located along with the actual project file at U:\Staff\jbelinski\Details (see attached)

    NIck,

Thanks for the clarification on where the other Revit.ini file was located! I though from what you said originally it was in the same folder.

I thought the same thing, that makes much more sense! I've never seen this happen before

    David K.

What did you use to create the GUI? Some software app or hard coding?

I like how the dialog box pops up to give the workset options but would rather not give the option to the general users to detach from central. The users who need this option know how to do it without the script. Also, do you find many of your users using “Only Open Revit”?

    Thanks

    Jason,

The GUI is just an interface. Actually you can add/ remove buttons if you go in and edit the script or you can add in password qualifiers. Something that I found out through the AHK forum...

I have attached a version that asks which files to open, you will notice that some of the files require a password and others do not.

    Thanks Nick

Very interesting stuff and thanks for your example. I guess I just need to spend more time becoming an expert on AHK. Not the most user friendly experience but it seems like once you know the basics it will be easy.

    David,

I love the script and it's working great for us!

One tiny thing I noticed when using the "detach" switch to Detach from Central:
With this option on, the script doesn't seems to quit. (It sits in the notifications area until manually quit. In some cases I've even seen the Revit Make Local splash screen still running.)

Could it be because of that "#Persistent" line near the end, that calls MsgBoxCheck? It seems that the script is waiting for the big "this is a local file now" dialog (which never appears when you Detach).

    Have you seen that behavior?

Not a fatal flaw ... just something that could work slightly "smoother".

Hey Jason, didn't see your reply till now, I use SmartGUI Creator.
I actually like giving the general users the detach from central option, it doesn't get used much but say for a example an architect who's pretty new to Revit just wants to print some things out...they detach from central, get done what they need to and don't mess up the real file. I was thinking of changing the license to demo when this option is selected, then there's no chance of them doing work on the detached copy. And no the only open revit option hardly ever gets used.

I know what you're talking about....I've seen it happen where the splash screen persists. I'll definitely take a look and figure out what's wrong. Thanks for pointing that out!
