Copy Layer Properties - Alter Properties

Here is the problem. I have queried in a drawing using alter properties to prefix the layers from that drawing with some object data ( The object data is the original drawing name.) The new layers created do not inherit the original layer properties from the source drawing.

I am trying to envision how laytrans might work.
How do you mass copy and rename layers with their layer properties intact?

The solution I found was to query the object data to a new drawing and use 'RENAME' on each new drawing (rename * "dwgname *"). I do not plan on doing this again for a long time so it's good enough.
