Hi,
I'm new on this site as well on this forum too. I'm learning about 3D's nowadays. I have some problems. I don't know how to make a 3D spring drawing? I don't know how to creat 2D views (All with dimensions) of a 3D model? I don't know how to work with render?
Can anyone help me please? I'm using AutoCAD-2002.
I do hope of a kind responce from you all.
Thanks in advance.

Hi. Welcome.

For 2d views, create Viewports in paperspace (= a layout tab) and adjust your views - 1 within each viewport. Make sure you have a co-ordinate system (UCS) in each viewport that is plan to (looking straight at) your model
You can dimension in either modelspace or paperspace, whichever works better for you.
Depends on what the profile is shaped like.
Recently I have been trying to extrude profiles of architraving around windows and ornate window sills.
I found that sometimes AutoCAD would be able to extrude a profile with an arc in it, and other times it refused even though the profile was an exact copy of one which had worked. The only difference being that I had copied it and rotated it to a different UCS.
Alternative solutions to create a solid of these profiles was to try it in Microstation or if that is not possible then instead of an arc, draw a series of short lines instead to represent the arc if this is acceptable. Fortunately we have a routine here to do this for us!
It can be easier to use the sweep command. Place polyline in a corner of the rectangle. Click on polyline and press enter, next you click on rectangle as path, followed by enter. No need to worry about UCS.
OH bless you for this one - I was trying to extrude a weird shape around an oval. This worked like a charm. Thanks!
