The Isometric drawings are drawing with the angle 30 (grade) .
They can dimensions with the Oblique option with an angle by Isometrics view.

If you create your isometric drawing accurately using AutoCAD's snap, style: "Isometric" you can dimension your geometry using the "dimaligned" command. Then you can do a "dimedit" select "oblique" and change it to 30 degrees (or -30 degrees depending on your needed angle).

See my attached example, I also changed the text style (for the dimension style) to be 30 degrees "oblique" to make it look better.

There may be better ways to do this, but this is how I've done Isometric drawings with accurate dimensions that look good.

    Good Luck

I have attached a drawing that I use that explains how to do iso dims and text. If you insert and explode it in a drawing you can use matchprop to adjust most of the text or dims. The drawing has iso arrows as well and are used in the dimstyles.

AWESOME JOB!!! I don't do a lot of iso dimensioning but when I do I always strugle with the angles. This is a great turorial!!

    (P.S. congrats on 100 posts)

You could look at ATP152 in the ATP archive - scroll down to August 2006.

    Very nice!
I liked "isometric" arrow heads too, I never thought of that!
You are showing what I was trying to explain (less the awesome arrow heads) and you created separate text styles too which is a nice touch.

Thanks for sharing and congrats on 100(+) posts.

I am attaching a method of isometric projection for going from orthographic views to isometric. Let me know if it helped or made matters worse.

Of course, there is less and less need for iso drawing but it is nice to know how to do, sometimes its all that is needed rather than 3D.

I just noticed that in the drawing I have Step 1 under the ortho views but the instructions for step 1 refer to the area labeled step 2, etc. I think it will be obvious which paragraph goes with which section.
