Default Best location for user custom folder

I want to use a local folder to provide some (very basic) support for custom user acad.pgp, CUI, lisp, and the like. The way I see it, I have two choices.

The first choice is to set up a local folder such as "c:\external support\user customs\". Makes it easy to set up and maintain. The problem is such a set-up means when a new hire inherits another computer, all of the previous customization is inherited which they may or may not want (or even know what to do with).

The second choice is to go the "Documents and Settings" route. That has its own problems, as each user needs their profile customized to recognize the login ID. There may be other issues with nesting our own folders under the ...enu\\ folder as well.

I'd like some feedback as how others are support user customization (if they are), how they are going about doing it, and any problems they have run into.

Networked? home directory on the network? everyone already mounting their location as a drive letter (e.g. I:\)?

add single path to I:\MyCadStuff to Acad support and move it to the top of the list. this works no matter where you login, or what machine you're logged in on.

I have user's files located on the network, so their files are available from any workstation.

I agree. Doing this also means it's all backed up regulary if your computer ever craps out. (like that ever happens)

Not a bad idea. I have seen some users with a personal network drive - I'll have to pop on down to IT and see if thats a global thing, and whether it gets backed up (I doubt it). Mobility isn't a *huge* issue, when somebody moves their computer goes with them. But the lack of reconfiguring paths to incorporate a login ID is tempting.
