OK, I have a good one for you. I don't supposed AutoCAD thought anyone would ever need to do both a regular xclip and an inverted xclip to the same xref did they? Is this even possible?

I'm aware that 2008 has inverted xclip. I just don't see a way to use it in conjuction with an existing xclip.
It looks like you can either have two copies of the x-ref, 1 innie and one outie, or you can have one x-ref and one tiny imperceptible channel, maybe 1/16", connecting your xclip lines like in the picture.
or depending on what you need the inverted clip for, do the external clip, and wipeout the internal area
That would work, and I tried for over an hour to get that to work about a month ago ( before I upgraded to 2008 ) but I have to change the plotter configuration to have lines overwrite instead of lines merge and that can't happen.
