    Question Blank/unnamed block removal?

We are transitioning from R14 to ABS/ADT 2007.
I have worked at a previous place where we transitioned from 2000i to 2004 and had this same issue.

The higher versions of cad have a tendency to create "blank blocks" or unnamed info that is housed in the drawing once it is saved down. When these drawings are xref'ed they come up as unresolved and cause issues in the main drawings.

Does anyone have a lisp routine or some sort of method that will allow me to purge an unnamed block? (preferably in R14, but any version would be helpful) I know some one has had to come up w/ a solution to this. I tried thumbing through the posts here, but didn't find anything right away.

Any input would be much appreciated.

I don't have a lisp or anything, but when that sort of issue arises, I'll try Erase, * , then remove whatever is visible from the selection set. Make sure all the layers are thawed & on. (save a layer state first, if you want to go back to way the layers were).
After that, try -Purge (dashpurge) then type R for Regapps. Return, return (default should be *), then N for no (if there are lots of regapps, you could be there all day, accepting them otherwise), return. You can repeat the command, selecting A for all. (IMO, the purge dialogue box is a pain).
    Then Audit.
    This might help.

instead of SaveAs to R14, try the ExportToAutoCAD -- it soubnds like objects area getting created/miscreated and showing up in r14 as block entities

    Thank you for the input

Doing purge/purgeall, audit, and recovery don't solve this problem. The information is in there and there is no actual name to the block/info so it can't technically purge it. Unfortunately there isn't anything that I can select to remove either.

I haven't heard of/delt with the "regapps" item...maybe I'll give that a whirl next time this shows up.

I had seen (at the old place I worked at) a lisp routine of some sort that went through and gave an arbitrary name to the "un-named"/"blank" block and then you could run the purge command and that took care of the problem.

The issue arrises when we get items from vendors and they've saved it down (via an unknown process) and we drop it into our drawings.

Another option is to use Wblock to recreate the drawing. Selecting only what's visible should get rid of the invisible non-entities. Unless they're imbedded in blocks, in which case, major hoops will need jumping through...

Wblock...I want to guess that we've tried that...but it's always worth another shot at it.

Would identifying and installing the appropriate object enabler help?

    Jaberwok:
Do they have an object enabler for R14?
I didn't really think they did.

I normally just redefine the blocks with triplet Squares overlapping using NCS color #1 so I could distinguish them easily, swithing back and forth from PS to MS checking for redefined blocks. Then, I Purge the drawing.
