    Default Failed to Create object

When I try to OLE Excel spreadsheets into CAD I get this error:

FAILED TO CREATE OBJECT. MAKE SURE THE OBJECT IN ENTERED IN THE SYSTEM REGISTRY.

Microsoft's website suggested unloading add-ins which I don't have anyway. The puzzling part is that I can link in some CAD drawings but not others. There have been a few quirks as well, for example: I can link the spreadsheet in a new drawing and cut and paste it into the drawing I want it in, this works sometimes. In some instances I can link into a different drawing and then it will let me link into the drawing I want to link to.

My office is on AutoCAD 2005 with most people using Excel 2000 and a few on 2003.

    This is becoming very frustrating.

Any suggestions on how to make this problem go away would be greatly appreciated.

    Tim

    Hi

Check out the following Technical Documents on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section -

ID: TS66017- Error when opening drawing: OLE server is not registered ...

ID: TS43271 - Unable to insert OLE object

Please note the above references do not answer your question directly, I only post them in the hope that they will offer some guidance and point you in the right direction to resolve your issue/problem.

Where the problem Excel Sheets created in Excel 2003?

Does everything work ok! on machines that have AutoCAD 2005 & Excel 2003 installed?

Another couple of links that may prove useful -

    Paste Special Link

    Have a good one, Mike

I had already looked at most of those websites, they didn't help me much.

I do appreciate you responding back.

We did find something that seems to work and I thought I should respond back in case others have the same problem.

It appears that if you zoom in on the drawing and then try to link the OLE it works fine without errors.

    Thanks again for the help.

This post was useful. Zooming fixed it for us too.

I wanted add, if we used the _insertobj command it seemed to work at any zoom scale. From the Insert pull-down menu pick OLE Object...
