Default A problem with a Moving Table!

Hello everyone, hopefully someone can help me with my issue of a Table that Will not sit still!

I have put together my own Bill Of Materials by using the Attribute Extraction tool. It works wonderful, and I can filter all the information I need from the blocks that I have in my drawings. It looks GREAT and I am proud every time I use it again as my template! But there seems to be a ghost in the works.

Each time I open up my BOM, all the information changes lines.
    For example:
Item #1 needs to be a 24A Fuse
Item #2 needs to be a 12A Fuse
Item #3 needs to be a Breaker

I have all of the items in their proper line, close it, open it a few days later and then:
Item #1 is now a Breaker
    Item #2 is now a 12A Fuse
    Item #2 is now a 24A Fuse

How do I keep everything in its place?

I havent used data extraction so I dont know how it works, but as a theory, is there a way to shut off a link so it doesnt auto-update?

Was this 2007 or 2008? Did you extract the info then link an Excel spread sheet to it? just from the example it looks as through the template got resorted in alphabetical order by item.

This is with 2007, and no I did not link it to an Excel spread sheet. I have placed everything within the same model space. The Table and the Items that the table is counting is alll in the same drawing.

I do not think turning off the Auto-update will help because I DO need this BOM to update, this is why I put this BOM together, so there would be less human error with counting blocks.

How the Items have changed or the names of them, I came up off the top of my head. There seems to be no pattern of needing to be in Alphabetical order. Even if I allow the change and re-orginize the Table to match the new order that the program came up with, If I open the drawing again later, It changes again.

Thanks for your ideas, hopefuly we can work this out.

ok if it 2007 its not what I was thinking. 2008 data extractor is extremely different and uses a .dxe file as a template.

How did set up your BOM. Did you add some columns? I would probably need to see the file to help more.

Well I guess I can add it here, but basicly what I had to do was have the main BOM Table with fields in the cells refrencing a cross reference table on the side.

I am an Electrical drafter and the information may not make sense, but I have different terminals on different terminal strips, so not only does this table need to count the terminals, it needs to know how many of each block is in each section. It is this cross reference table that is getting mixed up all the time.

If you can take the time to take a peek at it.. and perhaps even suggest a better way, that would be lovely.

    Stacey,

I'm sorry. I can not recreate the problem you are speaking of . It appears the table is working fine.
