    Default DST Template

So how did oyu create a SSM template file? I am basing mine off of a job that had quite a bit to it in terms of sheets, subsets, etc... I have fields in title blocks linked to it as well. So when I am creating the dst template, I want sheet and subset place holders in there, but I am not sure how to go about it in terms of naming or whatever. I know all I need is one sheet and one subset so that info specific to that will maintain in the template for future use. So how did you do yours and/or what suggestions do you have for me on this? Thanks much.

Anyone understand what I am trying to accomplish and have any ideas on this? Bascially, taking a completed dst file associated with a project and turning all of the callouts and references in the ssm to generic. Will this work? Ideas? Thanks much.

once you get the SSM set up the way you want, just copy those related files to a "Template" location on your network. new projects in our office are created using those cad files, but we create new DST files "using existing SS file".

if you don't read too much into this, it's as simple as it gets to create a SSM standard as far as CAD issues go.

So then naming it to a generic template name with placeholder subsets and sheets in it is fine? What I am trying to figure is how the linking from the titleblock that is in a dwt file and the info from within the SSM file is going to stay as well as the other specs I have applied to sheets within the template.

the reference files will never change, i have mine all pathed over our network.

pls don't take it wrong (cuz i'm guilty of this myself) but i do believe you're overthinking this one. once it's working, just copy it!

what i did was go into the dst file i consider my SSM job "template", then dump all the sheets from the subset, then dumped all the files that were the sheets, then i have a clean SSM template file complete with subsets ready to be populated.
