Default No read only warning when dwg already open

There are two versions of AutoCAD running in a customer office. They have 2007 and 2008.
When a drawing is opened in 2007 and a guy opens the same drawing in 2008 he gets NO warning that the drawing file is already opened.

Has anyone else seen this or know of a way around it?

I have not seen this. Yesterday I was using LDT 2007 and LDT 2008 on the same drawing. When I tried to open the drawing in 2008 it told me it was read-only.

Probably an operating system permissions issue.

See this thread, "No dwl file being created when opening file".
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

Thought this would be useful (I didn't have a clue):

    EXPERT

    Type: Integer
    Saved in: Not-saved
    Initial value: 0

Controls whether certain prompts are issued.

    0
    Issues all prompts normally.

    1
Suppresses “About to regen, proceed?” and “Really want to turn the current layer off?” (-LAYER)

    2
Suppresses the preceding prompts and “Block already defined. Redefine it?” (-BLOCK) and “A drawing with this name already exists. Overwrite it?” (SAVE or WBLOCK).

    3
Suppresses the preceding prompts and those issued by the LINETYPE command line (-LINETYPE) if you try to load a linetype that's already loaded or create a new linetype in a file that already defines that linetype.

    4
Suppresses the preceding prompts and those issued by UCS Save and VPORTS Save if the name you supply already exists.

    5
Suppresses the prompt, “That name is already in Use, redefine it?” issued by the -DIMSTYLE Save option when you supply the name of an existing dimension style.

Suppresses the same prompt issued by the -SCALELISTEDIT Add option.
