I don't know, it worked for me (in the manner I explained), if your dimstyle has been over-ridden (ie: dimscale changed on the command line or override in the dim dialog) my block won't work for this.

Simply put, if the leader in the block is on the same dimstyle as the current one in the drawing (and is not being over-ridden), it should come in the correct scale, and appear correctly with out having to dim-update.

I noticed on your screen shot that my leader is still on the dimstyle "COMPANY-DIM" which is probably why it didn't work. If you go into the block drawing and rename that style to your dimstyle name, it should work then (?).

    Maybe I'm missing something important.
good luck, sorry I couldn't help.

one important rule when creating/insert a dynamic size block ( the size is preset to increase/decrease based on the dimension scale) i.e in creating/inserting annotation blocks, or your custom leader, is to set both the insert definition source units and insert definition target into the equivalen value i.e mm w/ mm or inch w/ inch, and set the current units to have the same setting too. maybe you forget to set them, so the block didn't works correctly
check these variables when you going to create and insert block

    insunitsdefsource (value)
    insunitsdeftarget (value)

or you may set them on the options dialog
don't forget to set the current units to have the same value too
    hope this works
    thx

Based on the posts and screen shots, I think the OP is on the right track. He had his tool palette options set to insert the block based on the current dimscale, but the leader (which is part of the block) didn't appear correctly until he did a "dim-update".
I was able to duplicate what he had shown and it worked well for me. The difference I'm trying explain is: the leader (which is a dimension entity), needs to be on the current dimstyle (not just dimscale) for it to come in correctly without having to update.

Please read all the posts and I think you'll see what I mean.
