Unhappy Express Tools don't stay loaded in AutoCAD 2004

I had to reinstall the Express Tools 1-9 for AutoCAD 2004, and when I opened 2004 I had to manually load the menu file for the express tools. Now everytime I closed 2004 and restart it the toolbars are gone and I have to manually reload them everytime. Is there something I missed?

    Thanks,

    Hi

Is the Express Tools directory/folder in the AutoCAD Search Path?

What happens if you type ExpressTools at the AutoCAD CommandLine?

    Have a good one, Mike

Yes, the directory is in the search path. When I type ExpressTools, the ExpressTools load but when I exit 2004 and start it again they are gone.

Look at the properties of your desktop icon
for AutoCAD, then open AutoCAD, load/reload the express tools
then go to options and export the profile to overwrite the
one that is being called from the desktop.

I don't recall the correct name but there is a "do once" switch, somewhere, related to the ET installation. When you reinstall, the switch is already set so the install routine does not do the final part.

How about you 'humor' an old CAD guy, and try it with a
profile to see if it 'fixes' the problem?

So, I go into Options/Profiles and click "Add to List..." button and give the profile a name and click the Options "Apply" button. Then close AutoCAD and right click on my desktop icon, select properties and edit the Target like so:

    "E:AutoCAD 2004acad.exe" /t setup /p baker2004 /nologo

I added the bold text. When I tried this nothing happened when I opened AutoCAD again, so I went into Options/Profiles and clicked on the new profile and clicked "Set Current" and it still didn't load the express tools.

Sorry, I don't see that this would work anyway.
You must first load the Express Tools menus
before you create this NEW profile that you
attmpt to target with the Icon.
This document list exactly the issue you are
    having. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...linkID=2475323

Question Re: Express Tools don't stay loaded in AutoCAD 2004

    Dude,
    Are on a a network?
If so I wonder if your admin team made a standard ACAD.mnu which loads up when launch AutoCAD. ... hmmm....

    When you open AutoCAD ....
... check the path ... which you have already .... is it still there?
... now type in menuload .... Do you see it under the "Menu Groups" (Express) ????

If not ... I would suspect that the settings aren't saving, because the ACAD.mnu might be pointing on the server.

    I'd check with your admin.
And see if he/ she can add that menu to their ACAD.MNU.

It might also be some routine running in background to standarize everyone's AutoCAD which knocks out your preferences. ... something like a corporate LISP routine or some Standard regisrty file might be running everytime ... anyone launches AutoCAD.

We had that problem here awhile back.
We still have some issues with other stuff ... like variables .... but that's another post.

    If that doesn't help.
    Sorry in advance.

    Later.
