Walls and Subcategories

Is there a way to put walls on subcategories?

I have created foundation footings as walls, and I want them to show up dashed. To me the obvious answer is to create wall subcategory and make that dashed, but I can't seem to figure out how to change the category of the footing wall.

I know I could do them as extrusions, but I am just wondering if this is possible.

Unfortunately, walls cannot be made as subcategories at the moment.

There are many different approaches to drawing foundations. A search in this BB and alt-cad revit should turn up myriad threads.

Some people prefer to draw the foundation as a floor, rather than a wall. This is advantageous if the footing is stepped, as the overlaps can be managed and the wall can be attached to the bottom easily.

A simple solution to your problem is to use the linework tool to change the footing linework to dashed.
