    Default A Smart Revit Interface

Just a quick question for you Revit developers out there. How long has the Revit platform been under the great Autodesk's umbrella?

Still to this day no flavor of Revit will remember my interface preferences. For example for the past 10 years or so AutoCAD has embraced the Windows' interface allowing the user a high degree of flexibility and customization in regard to toolbars, dialog boxes, file menus, drop downs, fly outs, tuck unders, etc. (Did I say tuck unders?)

Anyway, could we at least have a program that remembers where I place the project browser, what size I adjust my open dialog box to, or the width of my design bar? This would be an acceptable starting point.

The last official response from Autodesk (which was a while ago) was that they didn't care about this, and that they weren't going to worry about UI preferences.
I think this is already in the Revit wishlist so we'll see if we get it. I too have made the same comment in the past which is how I know their stance on the subject.

I seriously doubt anyone made a truly official response like that. More likely they said that it wasn't as important as other things. I've never heard an official utterance like "they don't care"....

Fellow Reviteers: I must say that this is an important subject, as it is quite annoying - and time consuming - to set my preferences all the time. I have a dual screen setup in my computer, and I usually push aside the Project Browser and System Browser windows, to save space on my main screen, but when starting a new project, or Revit session, or even cycling through opened projects, these windows return to their default setting – place, size, etc. I even have to set again the columns in the System Browser when quitting Revit. Some of my colleages like to spread the Revit window across the two monitors... and they have to do it everytime they start Revit, of course.
Any improvement on this will be greatly appreciated!

I agree. Revit's UI stinks on dual monitors.
