Default specialty equip and wall line weights

I have a family for surface mounted paper towel dispensers and the family was made with the specialty equipment wall based template. I understand that spec eq. will not be cut on the "cut plane" but instead will be seen in it's entirety as a projection (makes sense, no one needs a section of a toilet.) What I have an issue with is how the projection takes over in plan. The edges of the family overwrite the edges of the wall that it's hosted by. So, instead of having the nice thick lineweight that I have assigned to my walls, I have a thin line weight that is assigned to the projection of the spec eq.

Is there a way for the thickest lightweight to always overwrite thinner lines? Please see attached.

    Thanks for any help.

edit the family to have a wide symbol line at the back. or have the geometry off in plan and use symbol line to represent what you want it to look like in plan(within the family).

...or offset the geometry a small distance from the wall in the family.
