Default How to write under the dimension line?

    Dear all,

could anybody help me to find a way to write under the dimension line (i.e. like typical or something) without editting the dimension text and press enter?

I just don't want to move the text or break the dimension line, I want to have text over it and under it!

    Thanks,

Place the dimension as normal then edit the text and add \X and whatever text you want to show after the <>.

For example <>\XTO BE CHECKED ON SITE would add the words TO BE CHECKED ON SITE underneath the dimension line.

Note that there must be NO space between the "X" and the following text.

The "X" must be a Capital "X" also

Strange, it doesn't matter whether I have a space after the X or not. I'm using ACA2008 so it may be different.

I didn't know it either, but it didn't matter on an test I tried too.
I'm in ADT 2006, and if added spaces before or after it didn't effect the text.

So is there a difference between "\X" and "\P" cause i have always used the "\P" and it does the same thing. Just wondering if there is a difference.

    Thanks

Something to note about using the \X on dimensions. You can use a hard return if you want 2 or more lines above and/or below the dim line. the \X will set anything beyond that variable below the dim line.

For example if you want two lines of text above and one below the dimension line. You would type:

    24 Equal Risers<Enter>@ 7"=<>\X(VIF)

    You would see:
    24 Equal Risers
    @ 7"=14'-0"
    <----------------------------------------------------------------------->
    (VIF)

    Thanks
I didn't think the \P would put it under the line and leave the line intact... but maybe it does...
